Malmsjö Acoustic Grand includes native versions for both GigaStudio and
Kontakt on a single CD in self-extracting compressed WinRAR files.
It has been developed to accurately
reproduce the keyboard response, and every subtle nuance of the original
instrument. The instrument is 1.85Gb in size, but the Giga version
requires only 1Gb of
hard drive space thanks to Nemesys' acceleration/compression algorithm.
There are six instruments included in Malmsjö Acoustic
Grand:
Malmsjö Acoustic Grand The original MAG contains only the originally recorded velocity layers: pp, p, mp, and f. Every key has been sampled individually, and every tone is allowed to ring until the end of its natural decay. The piano has been sampled with the damper pedal down only. However, the recording technique that has been applied never allows the sympathetic resonance to become overwhelming. There are several advantages to this approach: 1. The number of samples is drastically reduced, allowing for orchestral instruments to share RAM with the piano. 2. Normal sustain pedal technique works just like on a real piano (i.e. the pedal is pressed down after the key). 3. Full length samples may be used on each key without exceeding GigaSampler instrument size limits. Malmsjö Acoustic Grand X The MAG X (Extended Dynamics) version has an additional ff-layer between C3-C6. This layer has been conceived by EQ'ing the f-layer, so that it appears to be played "harder". MAG X allows a performance range from the most subtle pianissimo to a powerful fortissimo without moving in and out of the sound stage. Malmsjö Rock Grand The "Malmsjö Rock Grand" has had the samples between C3-C6 in the f-layer replaced with the EQ'd ff-samples. This provides for an instrument that sounds as if it is being played "harder". It is suitable for music styles like blues and boogie woogie etc.
Malmsjö Mozart Grand Same as Malmsjö Acoustic Grand X, but with more mezzo-forte dynamics.
Malmsjö Midnight Grand Only the dynamics for playing after midnight.
Malmsjö Dream Grand The piano in micro-cosmos. Just the softest layers, for a dreamy presentation.
